Green Hatch Chile Smashburgers Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Ground Beef (80/20 blend)
  • 4 Fresh Green Hatch Chiles, roasted, peeled, and diced
  • 4 slices Pepper Jack Cheese
  • 4 Brioche Burger Buns
  • 1 Tbs Big Swede BBQ Badass Beef Boost, or your favorite beef seasoning
  • 1 tsp Sea Salt
  • 1 Tbs Unsalted Butter
  • Optional: Sliced Red Onion

Green Hatch Chile Smashburgers Directions

  1. Pre-heat your Summerset grill by igniting all main burners. Then close the hood and allow the grill to heat for 10 to 15 minutes; the hood thermometer should reach approximately 500°. Turn off all the knobs except one.
  2. Place a flat-top griddle or a cast-iron surface on the grill and heat it thoroughly over direct heat.
  3. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal loose balls. Season lightly with sea salt and Beef Boost.
  4. Place the beef balls onto the hot surface and immediately smash firmly with a spatula to create thin patties. Cook for 2 minutes until a crust forms.
  5. Flip the patties and top each with diced Hatch chiles and a slice of pepper jack cheese. Continue cooking for another 1–2 minutes until the cheese is melted and the internal temperature reaches 160°.
