Grilled Tri-Tip and Asparagus Ingredients

Tri Tip

  • 1 tri-tip roast, also known as triangle steak, a bottom sirloin cut (anywhere from 2½ pounds to 4 pounds)
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ground pepper
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon garlic salt

Asparagus

  • 2 bunches of Asparagus spears (approximately 20 spears each)
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • 2 teaspoons fresh ground pepper

Grilled Tri-Tip and Asparagus Directions

  1. Add ingredients to prepare the tri-tip by placing the roast in a large Ziploc bag. Mix well and let marinade in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Prep asparagus by snipping off the bottom half inch to one inch of each spear and place in a large Ziploc bag. Add ingredients and mix well. Store in a cool place until ready to grill.
  3. Prepare the grill and sear each side of the tri-tip for a couple of minutes. Lower heat to medium and place asparagus spears on the grill. Continue cooking tri-tip and asparagus on medium heat until desired doneness, turning several times (usually 20-30 minutes). (Note: You must move the asparagus to the top rack or remove it altogether and cover it with foil before the tri-tip is done.)
  4. Remove the tri-tip from the grill and rest for 10 minutes, then slice and serve with 5-10 spears.
